Dal Makhani
Dal Makhani:
This recipe will serve 4 people.
Ingredients:
150 gm of whole urid beans.
¼ cup of red kidney beans (rajma)
2 tomatoes.
1 onion.
2 chopped green chilies.
1 tsp of grated ginger.
2 tbsp butter.
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste.
Chopped coriander for garnishing.
Procedure:
Soak both the beans for 5-6 hours. Boil them in a pressure cooker. Add water thrice as much as the beans. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder to it. It will take about 4-5 whistles of the cooker to get it cooked. In a frying pan add 1 tbsp butter. When heated add chopped green chilies and grated ginger. Sautee. Then add chopped onions and sautee for 2 mins. Then add chopped tomato and heat for 5 mins. Turn of the gas. Keep this vegetable mixture aside.
Take out the boiled beans. Take 2 tbsp of the boiled beans and add to the vegetable mixture. Churn it in the mixture to a fine paste. Now heat a frying pan and add 1 tbsp of butter. Add the paste into it and stir. Add rest of the boiled beans and mix thoroughly. Add water if necessary. Now add coriander powder garam masala and salt as per taste. Heat for 5 mins. Transfer in a serving bowl. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves and lemon juice and serve hot. It can also be served with chopped onions.
