'Poha' is one of the most frequently made breakfast in my house because its quick and easy. It is recieved without any frowns (read with delight) and there is never any left over when this is served as the breakfast.
Without much introduction as to what is 'Poha', I come straight to the recipe.
Ingredients:
1½ cup poha (Rice flakes).
1 tsp oil.
1 tsp mustard seeds.
1 green chilli deseeded and chopped.
5-6 curry leaves.
½ small onion chopped finely.
1 small potato cut into small thin slices.
1 tbsp lemon juice.
¼ tsp turmeric powder.
Salt to taste.
Process:
Soak the rice flakes in water and rinse softly and drain the water immediately otherwise it will become soggy. Keep aside. Heat a pan and add oil. When heated add chopped chilli, mustard seeds and curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds. While the mustard seeds are sizzling add the chopped onions and sauté for a minute or two. Then add the chopped potatoes. Add salt and turmeric and cook in a low flame till the potatoes are tender. Add the soaked rice flakes and mix gently so that turmeric and salt is even. Heat for another 2 minutes and add lemon juice. Stir gently and take it off gas. Serve hot.
